Independent software studio

We set out to build one app. We built loads.

It started with one idea. Then a better one. Then a tool to manage the first two. At some point someone suggested we become a company, and nobody could think of a good reason not to. Not Another App now builds apps, tools and software that actually ship.

Output report

Updated whenever we remember.

Apps planned
1

The original plan. Still technically on file.

Apps built
We stopped counting

Bar not to scale. Nothing here is to scale.

Apps finished
Define “finished”

Software is never finished. Only shipped.

Small print

Figures unaudited, mainly because we can’t count that high.

What we do

What we actually make

Three things, give or take. Mostly take.

./01

Apps

For phones, for the web, for whoever asked nicely. And a few for people who didn’t ask at all.

./02

Tools

Small, sharp software for businesses with one job that needs doing properly. Just the one job. We promise. (We can’t promise.)

./03

Experiments

The ones that started as a joke. Some of them work. You’re looking at one now.

How it works

We find the leaks.
Then we plug them.

Every business leaks a bit. Not water. Money and time, quietly dripping out through jobs nobody notices any more. We find the problems you don’t see, then build bots and tools that fix them. Then, being us, we build a few more.

  1. 01 Find
  2. 02 Diagnose
  3. 03 Build
  4. 04 Run
  • Leaking
  • Fixed
  • leaks fixed: 0 / 6
Find, diagnose, build, run A brain in the centre, surrounded by four steps: find, diagnose, build and run. Around the outside are everyday leaks where money and time drain away. Each leak can be selected to see the fix.

How we got here

Scope creep, a timeline.

  1. Day 1“Right. One app. Keep it simple.”
  2. Day 4“It probably needs a dashboard.”
  3. Week 2“The dashboard should be its own app.”
  4. Week 3“The dashboard needs a login. The login is now an app.”
  5. Month 3“Hang on. How many have we built?” Followed shortly by: “Don’t count.”
  6. Today“Fine. We’re a company now.”

Got an idea?

Tell us about it. Worst case, it turns into three apps. Best case, also three apps.
